Artbeats Textures, Backgrounds
and Animated Clips
All ArtBeats footage is
captured from 35mm film, 16mm film, or computer generated. All footage is
provided in D1 NTSC (720 x 486) unless otherwise specified.
If you wish to special order a PAL version, please send us an e-mail
and we will be happy to assist you.
After transfer from
film to the digital realm dust, scratches, flaws and other artifacts are
carefully and painstakingly removed from every frame. The footage is
"mildly compressed" using the Photo JPEG codec at high quality. Side-by
side comparisons show no difference visible to the naked eye. Analysis of
histograms show only a 3% difference between the original and the JPEGd
versions. Other important influences on quality include the use of a Philips
Spirit Datacine for film transfers, image data that is never converted to
analog during the production cycle, and the use of newer film stocks and
pin-registered cameras. And, of course, the footage is all for unlimited use
and is royalty-free!
What does royalty-free, unlimited use mean? Royalty
Free means that any Artbeats product you purchase may be used over and
over again without incurring additional fees or costs. Unlimited Use
means that the footage (or images) may be used for virtually any project
including feature films; broadcast video; commercial, industrial, or
educational video; games; or the internet. The only limitations are that the
imagery may not be sold as a stock element or as part of any other content
library or collection, nor may it be used for pornographic, defamatory, or
illegal material. This license applies to registered users only. Other custom
licenses may be granted at ArtBeats' discretion and may involve further fees.
If you have a specific use in mind and wonder if its ok, please call them
at (541) 863-4429.

Artbeats has distanced itself from the competition by creating a
production cycle that
preserves the integrity of the original film.
Specifically:
1. ArtBeats does only digital transfers of the original film via Phillips
Spirit Datacine to D1 tape or 10bit 2K Scans.
2. They digitally transfer the D1 tape to computer data files (no analog
conversion or compression)
3. Artbeats employs a team of "image cleaners" who digitally
remove dust, scratches, and other artifacts from each frame of every clip.
4. They "hand stabilize" clips that have excessive gate weave or
other movement problems.
5. ArtBeats does a secondary color correction to remove unwanted color
casts, making sure that highlights are under control, grays are neutral and
blacks are...well, black.
6. When appropriate, the designers use Artbeats' proprietary method to
modify footage to make it seamless looping.
When shopping for footage, Artbeats offers consistent quality that is
unmatched !
