VideoRaid RT Wins 2001 Platinum Award from AV
Video! This award is chosen by reader participation in the Platinum Awards survey. |

VideoRaid RT disk arrays offer up to 150GB of storage per module and will sustain a minimum data transfer rate of 55 MB/second. This data rate provides more than enough performance to support a single-stream of uncompressed video or dual-stream, real-time effects systems at broadcast resolutions up to 500KB/frame.
All disk drives and disk arrays exhibit slower (approximately 40% slower) data rates as they fill up the outside tracks with data (video) and begin using the inside tracks. By averaging the data rate between the outside and inside tracks of the drives, Medea's proprietary Zone Stripe Technology (ZST) overcomes this limitation and assures a sustained high data rate regardless of how much video is stored on VideoRaid.
Unlike competing disk arrays (or drive stripe sets) that suffer a 40% drop in data rate as they fill with video, VideoRaid sustains its high data rates from the first GB of storage to the last GB, thanks to this proprietary Zone Stripe Technology.
VideoRaid RT disk arrays attach to any Ultra 2 SCSI equipped PC, Mac or SGI computer. VideoRaid RT's on-board hardware RAID controller eliminates the need for disk striping software or configuring drive stripe sets. Each VideoRaid RT module looks like one large disk drive to your operating system and uses a single SCSI ID. Simply attach VideoRaid RT to your SCSI host adapter using the supplied cable, install the terminator (included) and initialize the array as if it were a single disk drive. That's all there is to it!
By daisy-chaining VideoRaid RT modules together, up to 3 terabytes of high-performance video storage can be configured on a single Ultra2 SCSI host adapter.
VideoRaid RT can be moved easily between PCs (with the same OS) since the striping control is maintained within the unit and not in the host PC.
