Live Production Environment |
|
With Video Toaster [2], NewTek
continues the proud tradition it began more than a decade ago when
it created the Desktop Video industry. All creative limitations are
now eradicated with this latest, Windows 2000-based production
powerhouse. Video Toaster [2] brings a never-before-seen collection
of tools ready to meet the needs of editors, technical directors,
and artists.
No other application offers
the breadth of tools and raw, real-time control over creation that
Video Toaster [2] brings you. Live switching of component, Y/C and
composite sources is seamlessly tied into creation
and playback of CG, animated overlays and bugs, cueing multiple
decks and much more. |

| Real-Time Multi-Format Editing |
|
| "Fast”
“Friendly” and “Fun” - the sort of accolades that
ToasterEdit (right) is earning. This real-time multi-format editor allows
you to focus on content without worrying about formats, aspects,
compressed or uncompressed. The speed of Storyboard, the precision
of Timeline, or both at once. Use the interface that works best for
the project at hand.
DV, AVI, JPEG, TGA, MJPEG, MPEG-2 and uncompressed
can all play back within a project in real-time, with real-time
keyframeable color correction applied to any clip. Multi-format
friendliness means you spend more time creating and less time
converting while ToasterEdit’s subprojects let you turn complex
segments into a single virtual clip. Layer upon layer of
picture-in-picture can be created with ease. |

Sophisticated projects require
far more pre-production than simply importing clips; there is the
need for lower-thirds, animated graphic elements, and video
layers. Video Toaster [2] is a professional TV studio-in-a-box
with video painting and 2D animation features found in Aura [2.5].
Creativity is the only limit, with high-end features as pixel
tracking and color isolation at your command.
When you need to get
three-dimensional, LightWave Express (left) is ready to transform your
client’s logo into tangible beauty, and fly it through all
realms of time and space. If you’re not skilled in the ways of
3D animation, then sit back and let FXMonkey do all the work for
you. This wizard walks you through scene creation, with
professional results to keep clients coming back for more. |

| Live Switching |
| When
was the last time you saw an 8-input component switcher for less
than $2,000? Well, look closer, since the Video Toaster [2]
Switcher Expansion (right) module is the only place you’ll find such a
bargain. SX-8 also offers 8 Y/C inputs and up to 24 composite
inputs, with all inputs internally frame-synced. This means you
can use any camera source, without the need for dedicated genlock
out.
There’s no limit to what you
can switch. Live camera sources, digitized clips and graphics cued
up in the DDR, or even physical decks controlled via the Toaster
Xternal Control are at your command while you switch 3D DVE’s,
overlays and key in real time, all the while keeping an eye on the
show with multiple ToasterVision displays. |

| Upgradeability &
Support |
| Video Toaster [2]
is software-based. There is no reliance on proprietary chips,
other than the computer’s processing power. What this means for
you is a steady stream of new features and upgrades coming from
NewTek with a simple download or CD install. As computers continue
to get more powerful, your Video Toaster is ready to take
advantage of every bit of that new power, meaning your production
tools continue to get faster.
One of the most special
features of Video Toaster [2] is definitely ‘outside the box’:
a dedicated online community. This vibrant group of video and
graphics professionals can be found in more than half a dozen
Internet forums, mailing lists, and newsgroups. Whether you are
just getting started and need a bit of guidance, or have a
particular effect you are attempting to create, this global
‘family’ of users is always willing to help. |

|
Software Modules |
| Video
Toaster [2] is structured to have all modules as plug-ins to the
program. This means the underlying architecture is extremely flexible
and interactive. This also allows all popular video and graphic file
types to be easily recognized and shared between components. All
components can be easily replaced by a third-party module at a later
date. The interface is 'skinned', meaning that modules can be
customized at any time with new images or specialized functions. The
foundation has been laid for easy third party inclusion and incredible
future expansions! |
