Using current Boris products with Windows
XP
Until Boris FX and Boris RED are updated for Windows
XP compatibility, users can activate a simple workaround to get their
software working. All that is required to get FX and RED functioning
under Windows XP is to disable Visual Themes for your host
application. According to Boris FX technical support, on versions
5.0 and above of Boris FX and 2.0 and above of Boris RED, the following
process will accomplish this:
1. Find your host application's executable file (premiere.exe,
for example)
2. Right-click on its icon and pick
"Properties"
3. Click on the "Compatibility" tab
4. Select "Disable visual themes"
This process can also be followed for the Boris Keyframer
application. Please note that Boris GRAFFITI 2.0 already supports
Windows XP.

Using Boris FX 5.0 with Premiere 6.0
Some of you may have noticed that when using a Boris FX
5.0 transition in Premiere 6.0 to edit digital video you may see a
blurring and slight stretching of the video during the transition.
This is caused by the conversion of the video from DV 0.9 pixels to square
1.0 pixels and back again. This blurring is fixed in Boris FX 6.0,
or you can work around it in Boris FX 5.0. The work around is
accomplished by selecting the transition portion of the timeline as the
work area, then changing the project settings to square pixels and
exporting a movie of the work area. Next razor the timeline at the
beginning and end of the transition and cut the video and transition from
the timeline and paste the video clip you just created in place of
it. You will also need to change the project settings back to DV
pixels.
