NewTek releases third free texture collection
NewTek announced the release of the third edition of
NewTek's Texture Collection. As with the earlier editions, this new
set includes fifty high-resolution textures available for free download at
NewTek.com. Subjects covered in the third set of textures
include Wood, Metal, Sky, Nature, and Stone. All textures are unretouched
photographic images at 1600 pixels x 1200 pixels resolution. These
are provided in JPEG format, for efficient download from the NewTek
web site .

LightWave 3D [7.5c] update released for
Windows and Mac
This update is a maintenance release that doesn't add
any new features beyond what is found in LightWave 3D [7.5b]. It
does add three plug-ins for Mac OS X users that were already present for
Windows and Mac OS 9 users. Also available is an online help
system for LightWave that consists of HTML files. Both the 7.5c
update and the help system are available as free downloads from the NewTek
web site .

LightWave 3D [7.5b] update available for PC
NewTek has released an update to LightWave
3D on the PC that brings it up to version 7.5b. You must already
have version 7.5 installed before you can install the update. This
update, available as a free download from the NewTek
web site ,
includes a number of new features such as preview output using a DV
camcorder and a ScreamerNet render node for Linux.

NewTek Video Toaster [2] update now available
Today NewTek has released an updated version of their Video Toaster [2]
software. This build, 3280i, requires a computer with SIMD
extensions to use the CG, changes keyboard shortcuts, adds a
"detail" view in the file bin, speeds up ToasterEdit on very
large projects, supports new file formats, provides real-time playback
of ToasterEdit on fast machines, and has a completely rewritten audio
mixer with built-in modification tracking, more responsive VU meters,
global audio levels, and more. Users of the Video Toaster [2] can
download this update from the NewTek
web site .

NewTek unleashes free LightWave [7.5]
update for all owners of version [7.0]
NewTek released today LightWave 7.5 for both the
Macintosh and the PC. Owners of the 7.0 version can download the
update for free from the NewTek
web site .
Some of the new features include Sliders (for better animation control)
, Expression Builder (which includes a wizard to create your own
expressions) , Dynamic Parenting, Simple Constraints, Path Tool,
enhanced OpenGL feedback, Motion Mixer 2.0, X-Ray mode, Colored Shadows,
Per-Light Object Exclusion, Luxigons (attach lights to polygon normals),
Multiple Bounce Radiosity, Matte Objects, Virtual Darkroom 2.0 (adds
grain and realistic light response to renders) and much more.

Video Toaster [2] patch available for
download
NewTek has released an update to their already
powerful Video Toaster software. Build 3266c, which is available
as a free download from the NewTek
web site ,
adds a number of new features including PAL support (NTSC clips can be
played back on PAL Toaster and vice versa), a desktop DDR, new
ToasterVision skins, ToasterEdit has new VU meters and volume control,
support for RTV+WAV file pairs and significant performance improvements
throughout the software.

LightWave 3D [7b] update released as free
download
NewTek has released an update to LightWave 3D [7]
that no user should be without. The 7b update dramatically
increases the rendering speed, especially on dual processor Macintosh G4
systems. New features of the update include SSE2
and AltiVec optimizations for Intel P4 and Apple G4 processors, use of
the Motorola math library for Mac OS X version boosts render
performance, OpenGL optimizations that yield a 20% to 80% speed-up in
some instances, SkyTracer 2 and Image World will now take advantage of
multiple processors, Motion Mixer speed optimizations relating to the
use of expressions and much more. This update is available as a
free download to existing owners of LightWave 3D [7] from the NewTek
web site .

NewTek releases LightWave [6.5]b update as free
download for registered users
NewTek has announced an update to LightWave that is
available for Windows, Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X users. The update to
version [6.5]b can be downloaded from the NewTek
web site
and has many enhancements that allow users of LightWave to work much
faster. Feature highlights include speed and stability increases;
new alert levels for Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced Mode when
displaying error messages; OpenGL textures can be displayed at 1,024x1,024
resolution; new 'Shading Noise Reduction' tool in Layout; Modeler's bank
of layer buttons can now refer to different sets of layers; 'Volumetric
Antialiasing' in the effects panel; global intensity control for radiosity;
new HyperVoxels effects and more.

DPS releases LockStep LW plug-in for LightWave
DPS has created for LightWave 5.6 and 6.0 a version of
their LockStep plug-in for the dpsReality/dpsVelocity boards. Some
of the main features to be found in LockStep LW are the ability to use
dpsReality/dpsVelocity frame buffer as a render display device, use
dpsReality/dpsVelocity as an animation recorder (native .DPS file format
support with the ability to insert new frames into existing animations)
and use LockStep LW to quickly playback any .DPS file. It is free of
charge and can be found on the DPS
web site .
