Pinnacle Pro-ONE not compatible with analog
to DV converters
It has been verified with technical support at
Pinnacle Systems that the IEEE-1394 port on the Pinnacle Pro-ONE does
not work with IEEE-1394 devices that convert video signals from one
format to another. The only exception is if you completely
uninstall the Pinnacle Pro-ONE software and use the card as a generic
OHCI compliant capture card. This means that devices like the
Hollywood DV-Bridge, MXProDV, etc. aren't compatible with the IEEE-1394
port on the Pinnacle Pro-ONE. For most customers this will not
matter since the Pinnacle Pro-ONE has both analog (i.e. composite, Y/C)
and digital video/audio connections.

Using DVDit! with DV500
Some people may be
experiencing problems creating DVDs if they are using Sonic Solutions'
DVDit! software with the DV500 from Pinnacle Systems. The problem
is that when the DV500 creates an MPEG-2 file (with .mp2 extension) it
puts what is called a "user data block" on the end of the file
which DVDit! interprets as a data spike. This "user data
block" conforms to the DVD specification but not all software
packages properly recognize it. Pinnacle Systems is planning to
revise their software for the DV500 (the new Pinnacle Pro-ONE doesn't
have the same problem) so that it doesn't create this "user data
block" but they could not say when this will be fixed. Until
then, there is a workaround that requires the use of the Pinnacle
Impression software that is included with the DV500. It works as
follows:
1 - export the MP2 file from Premiere to Impression
2 - create a DVD image in Impression and write the folders to your hard
drive
3 - go into the video_ts folder and rename any files ending with ".vob"
so that the file name extension is ".mpg"
4 - then import the files into DVDit! and write your DVD-R.

Pinnacle Systems DC2000/DVD2000 software issues
The recently released DC2000/DVD2000 from Pinnacle Systems
has a couple of software issues that people should be aware of.
First of all, the Hollywood FX CD-ROM that is included with the
DC2000/DVD2000 is missing a serial number. Without this serial
number the software cannot be installed. Second, on many of the
DC2000/DVD2000 CD-ROMs the Minerva Impression software installer cannot be
run because the Minerva Impression software directory is corrupt.
Owners of DC2000/DVD2000 boards can call Pinnacle Systems technical
support at (317) 577-8788 to get a serial number for Hollywood FX
over the telephone and to get a Minerva Impression software CD-ROM sent to
them. Digital Video Direct has requested a Minerva Impression CD-ROM
so that we can send copies to our customers upon request.
