The clips are delivered in Apple QuickTime format, encoded with
PhotoJPEG at a high quality setting. The compression is not designed for
playback directly from the CD, rather it is an archival codec offering
the best compromise of file size and superior image quality. The product
contains approximately twenty clips with lengths varying from five to
thirty seconds. The imagery was captured directly from film prints via
digital telecine (Spirit Datacine) shot during the early 1950's. Most of
the clips are black and white though a small percentage are provided in
color.
